Howdy folks and hope your harvests have been fruitful, as we bring you our November Cannae News.
Lots of cannabis activity around the world, but we thought we would focus on some of the biggest news with our own little cannae spin, as in we look at the ‘cannots’ that are happening around the world.
Cannae News
Ohio Lights Up
It’s all green to go in Ohio, as the state became the 24th in the union to allow adults to recreationally consume the plant.
Other recent states that given the go-ahead include the District of Columbia (DC), and Guam, making it almost a fair split across the US in terms of legalisation.
Maryland also recently joined the club, and boasted over $90 million in recreational sales during the month of October alone. Not bad since they only started in July.
Republican candidate Ramaswamy was vocal in that he voted against making it legal, another reason why this guy is douche-flouting his way to blowing a wad of cash in a big ‘L’ in this election.

Legal in 2024?
With the election looming, some cannabis folks are holding out that this might be the year that cannabis is the year that the feds reschedule the designation of cannabis, and allow for the whole US to go legal.
Former FCA deputy commissioner Howard Sklamberg says he would be ‘shocked’ if the FDA and DEA didn’t find a way forward to save both sides potential headaches.
A recent survey found that 70% of Americans support a federal legalisation of cannabis, which points to good signs for the future ahead.
There are some states (looking at you Utah!), who would probably never support it, so there will be challenges ahead.

Italian Pot Heads
Recent archeaological digs in Italy have revealed that Italians who lived during the 17th century were recreational marijuana users.
Forensic scientists were able to sample the bones of two recently found skeletons, and found traces of cannabis in both.
Pope Innocent VIII passed a law decreeing cannabis an unholy sacrament in 1484, and banned the use of it amongst Catholics.
Given the name, it’s not surprising the guy was a bit of a bummer.
Maybe they died together this way?

Spanish Weed
Spain is one of those European countries still struggling with its own cannabis identity.
In areas like Catalonia, people are free to consume weed in cafes, on the beaches, and boasts over 450 cannabis clubs in the region alone.
The rest of Spain is not so weed friendly, and while Catalonia has its own identity and political struggles, Madrid has a more conservative approach to the plant.
That hasn’t stopped Catalonian cannabis entrepreneurs from branching out, helping other people in regions like Malta and Germany explore the potential for cannabis lounges of their own.
Having fully legalised cannabis in 2001, the Catalonian cannabis cultivators should be people the world looks to as an example of how they got it right, not as a pirates who should be shut down.
Canada Crashes
More bad signs for major cannabis retailers in Canada, as news that one-third of greenhouses and indoor grow operations have been shut down.
With each one of these facilities costing between $100-500 million dollars each, it’s a big blow to those investors who thought that they knew the way that Canadians would consume, but they didn’t.
Many Canadians see this as more signs that the government and corporations don’t ‘get them’, as they both failed to spot the way that Canadians get their weed, and how much they are willing to invest in the novelty of going to a retailer.
Yes, the numbers of Canucks buying from the shops has risen, but they still don’t take into account the sheer maths of personal growth.
If a Canadian were to grow four legal plants for themselves, and knew how to grow a good strain of it, they could get over 2 pounds of bud off the four.
Given Canadians have big back yards and like even bigger numbers, assume then that the average person is growing ten plants each. That’s over 5 pounds of bud for personal use.
Even if a person smoked an ounce of week of herb, it would take them 80 weeks to smoke 5 pounds of bud.
Of course every Canadian has that buddy that grows one hundred plants, and just gives it to friends for free, because that’s what Canadians do.
Everyone forgot that Canadians will always be Canadians at the end of the day.
That’s it for November Cannae News this week, we’ve got more podcasts lined up, so stay tuned!
