Among some of the news that Craig, Shawn and Wade discuss in this podcast includes:
Weed is the Way
According to latest research, it looks like cannabis is the preferred smoke of the 2020s.
Despite only 4% of people claiming they ‘tried pot’ in 1969, an overwhelming 17% of respondents claimed to be currently a weed-smoker.
Only 11% of people said that they were regular tobacco smokers, way down from 125% in the 60s. (maybe it wasn’t that high, but it sure smelled like it).
Kids are still vaping though, which is hella dangerous.
Opiod Avoid?
The opiod crisis is a stain on America, and big pharma, but ever worse for those who have been suffering through addiction and homelessness.
A recent study found that cannabis has been very helpful in alleviating the pangs of addiction that come from opiod withdrawal.
If only we could have pushed the plant first, instead of those deadly pills.
Seniors and Weed
CNN’s Dr Sanjay Gupta has gone from a pot-hater, to a pot-helped in recent years, and his new article is quite enlightening.
Dr Gupta has said that senior citizens are the ones most likely to seek out cannabis solutions to some of their health problems from pain management, sleeplessness, bowel issues and more.
Not only are seniors some of the biggest purchasers of cannabis products, but some retirement homes are having their own marijuana moments.
Farmers Weed Market
Word out of New York state is that the Hudson Valley is hosting Farmers Markets for cannabis growers and dispensers, as a way of getting to know neighbours and those of green thumbs.
While alcohol is banned from the market when the weed is in session, it’s unknown how close to the market people can puff up without causing a stink.
It’s good to see that growers are continually finding new ways to engage with customers.
Calmer Schools
Halfway into 2023, and America has already experienced 427 mass shootings, with over 450 deaths, and 1700 injuries.
How many has weed killed again?
Scientists have recently found a correlation between states that legalise cannabis, and the decrease in the number of school shootings in that state.
While it is spurious to make a direct connection between the two, there has to be more at play here in terms of socio-economic and other mitigating factors.
